@lauren I remember these good old “wreck a nice beach” times well. To watch how perfectly intelligible synthetic utterances turned into incomprehensible gibberish the moment listeners didn’t know in advance what was being said could easily make a dent in your concept of reality.

@lauren Yeah, exactly, and that’s why these early speech synths could be useful in early generations of video games. Players were used to, even trained to, a very restricted vocabulary from adventure game-type verbs/text inputs xD
