@khirdI’ve used AT Cross fountain pens, I have two, both metal bodies. One is quite solid and heavy while the other is a finer, lighter, design. However, my most often used fountain pen is a Lamy Safari design. It’s light to hold and probably the most comfortable of the three. All have screw/piston ink holders. The Lamy is perhaps worth a punt, not too expensive.

@tek KeePassX database, have used a number of clients. Lately, Strongbox in on my Apple platforms. If they’re constantly advertising, ‘use xyzblah’, it’s quite possibly just shite.

@freemo I have a Lamy Safari fountain pen that is very satisfying to write with.More frequently, I’ll use a Uni-ball ‘eye’ fine or a Muji 0.5 rollerball.

@freemo Peak NHS. I’ve always been amused that the NHS hospitals in my local area are bedecked with ‘helpful’ self-designed & printed A4 ‘notices’. Recently, I had regular visits to a new but partially operational hospital. Alongside every architects’ carefully designed and placed sign was a ‘helpful’ ad-hoc signs that, typically, made no sense whatsoever but did impart the frustrations of the first deployed staff.

@strypey @witchescauldron @neil The Beeper developers host their services in Germany. They’ve written that this decision is partly motivated by EU law making and an expectation that platform developers will be required to provide APIs.

@freemo @VoxDei @olives GB police forces’ armed response units typically use Heckler & Koch MP5 & MP7s.I write GB, as in the other component part of the UK, NI, police officers do routinely carry personal weapons (but notably very rarely used).

@VoxDei @freemo @olives Airports and other venues such as Palace of Westminster, London (I visited the buildings, recently. Entrances all guarded by armed Met Police officers).I'm not sufficiently familiar to discriminate the various types of weapons.

@freemo @VoxDei @olives I am reliably informed* that the Met do use straight MP5s, SOP is for the officer to set single fire mode. Mountain of paperwork required if used in auto.PSNI (as was, RUC) previously used Sterlings, provided this answer to a FoI enquiry:https://web.archive.org/web/20190803023503/https://www.psni.police.uk/globalassets/advice--information/our-publications/disclosure-logs/2015/operational-policing/weapons.pdfPSNI isn’t necessarily typical of GB’s police forces due to continuing local terror threat.Being a major global capital city, London has experienced critical globally influenced terror incidents, accordingly Home Office/Met have established standing protections and mitigations.[*] recently retired DI
