@historyofpunkrock For me, best is hard to define because it's so multidimensional. But I'd definitely rank East Bay Ray as the most innovative. No other punk guitarist sounds anything like him.

@historyofpunkrock No Control. Side 1 of the record has four of my favorite Bad Religion songs, including "I Want to Conquer the World", a fantastic vocabulary flex.

@historyofpunkrock I'm late to the party here, but:• Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables• The Clash• White Light, White Heat, White TrashThe third one was a bit of a tossup, but "Don't Drag Me Down" is one of my favorite songs, so I had to give it to Social D.

@historyofpunkrock The first time I saw or heard Devo was their appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1978. It was like: Whoah! Who are these guys? I've never seen or heard anything like them! Kinda weird, but very, very cool.

@historyofpunkrock Love this song. The surf guitar towards the end was so unusual to hear at the time in a punk song, though East Bay Ray was fusing surf with punk at about the same time. I wonder if Mike Palm and East Bay Ray brought in that sound independently. I think I read somewhere that Palm's cousin played in an early surf band, so maybe.

@historyofpunkrock There are so many great options for each. Off of the top of my head, maybe the following (though it might change with some reflection):Bill Stevenson - drummerPaul Simonon - bassistJohnny Thunders - guitaristTim McIlrath - singer

@historyofpunkrock Oddly enough, the first time I heard this song was on the Dr. Demento Show.
