That would be true if Twitter's TOS were applied neutrally, but instead they seem to be used as a tool to bludgeon the people who Twitter wants to silence.You might find some banned tweets by searching https://old.reddit.com/r/cance11ed/ for "Twitter".@ninapaley @macha @Ladyfat

None of these are individually a big deal, but they do all affect the signal to noise ratio in our communications. I don't want to see thousands of lines of politically motivated renaming in a code diff, ever. Removing singular third person pronouns from the language definitely reduces clarity. @socjuswiz @macha

If you make a public post on here, it's best to assume it's on the internet forever. Twitter makes public tweets available to everyone on Twitter using a network of servers that all follow Twitter's rules because Twitter owns all of them. The Fediverse makes public posts available to everyone on the Fediverse using a network of around 5000 servers which follow some rules called ActivityPub. Some of those servers follow the rules better than others, depending on the software they use or the competence, incompetence or possible malice of the 5000 different people who own and run them.When you make a public post on Spinster, according to the ActivityPub rules, Spinster will transfer it to other servers for your followers on those servers, and it may send it to other servers who have even just one user who follows anyone on Spinster, to populate their Fediverse feeds, in the same way as Spinster's Fediverse feed collects public posts from other servers.When you delete a public post, Spinster will send a message to the other servers to ask them to delete it as well, but whether that request is obeyed is not under Spinster's control.If you don't want your posts to possibly reach people in the far corners of the Fediverse, you can set them to followers-only using the globe icon at the bottom of the window where you write your post, and then they will only go to the servers of the people in your followers list. @LGBALLIANCEUSA @mk I am old enough to remember young lesbians and gay men my age fighting for their rights against political enemies who looked on them with disgust, at the same time that they were going to two funerals a week as AIDS was killing their peers. Reading that mildly worded sentence was when I realized that the movement they built had just been stolen from them by an Orwellian redefinition of words.

@polarcoordinate If the transgender brain studies are true then we should be brain scanning people to see if they are really transgender before letting them have hormones or surgery. Try saying that in your debate and then they will have to argue against the studies.

@GalacticTurtle Wokeness has become a new religion. We were better off with Jesus, because Jesus taught tolerance and forgiveness, even if his followers don’t always do a good job of it. There is no forgiveness in Critical Race Theory, only unforgivable privilege, which is just original sin with a new name.

@Skye356 I’m not so sure about online, but it’s pretty easy to stifle that Karen thing when I’m talking to people in person. Ask the teller of some Karen story to imagine that same story with a white man as the protagonist, and that will stump them because without the misogyny there isn’t anything interesting about the story. Or tell your own story about some man you know asserting his right to decent customer service, get them to agree he was justified, and then ask if you would be a Karen if you used his exact words?

@r4df3mcynthia Now that I am one, I realize grandmas are younger than I used to think they were. Being a Spinster patron is easy, just use the donate link that you can get to from the menu attached to your profile picture at the upper right of your page (on mobile). This is one of the best places for women to talk on the internet and I’m happy to chip in toward the cost of keeping it running. I helped out with the software when Spinster was getting started but now I’m mostly working on Ovarit.

@Purple I voted “none but I might” because I have a family member who had plastic surgery to make his face look normal again after the skin cancer surgeon removed part of his nose and lip. Plastic surgeons do a lot of good for cancer and accident victims.

If you're missing Ovarit, the closest thing to it is Vexxed which I helped found. Vexxed runs the same web software that Ovarit did, and signed on about 400 people from Ovarit during the last weekend that Ovarit was running, so it feels a lot like Ovarit. We only have a handful of circles so far, but are busy behind the scenes getting organized to open up some more. Posts and comments are currently not visible to the public, although we are planning on making everything visible to lurkers once we have enough mods on board. Creating an account is invite only, as Ovarit was. If you are a Spinster user and would like to join, let me know in the chat or DMs here and I'll get you an invite code.
