There is no tax to owning a cat, except the emotional burden of making them happy)More seriously tho: While I feel our pet insurance of $45/mo/cat is high, I’m still net-positive after a couple of weird situations that would have cost me $2000 out of pocket, but insurance covered ~80% of. (USA, caveats etc etc etc, YMMV)

We worry about ppls rights in various states that are restricting them.We warn, and raise concerns about conferences or travel to those states - rightfully so.But what about your data that transits, or sits at rest, in those states? How many large DCs are in Texas, Ohio, Iowa, South Carolina, Utah etc? What happens when data access legislation is passed that negatively impacts you, because your redundant copy of data is in one of those states?

@prettygood @shibao You’re not wrong. But, see the EU & China’s legislation for domiciling data of their citizens (for v. different reasons) within their borders. Someone is going to wake up one morning and decide they’re gonna legislate a search & riffle through data that is located or transits through their state.I don’t know if it’ll be *successful*, but it’s going to put the cat amongst the pigeons. It will also cause problems for innocent ppl who are the target.

@mjg59 I couldn’t pay for parking in the supported app because it didn’t accept I’m on UK phone numbers or post codes for the (mandatory) account creation.A national level parking app, used in big cities. 🤦
