@craigmaloney@CarlCravensThis is why I'm still manually triggering email, feeds, update checking, etc on the machine I set up over a month ago. Used to use cron but my system already uses systemd. I'm putting off committing to one and apparently using neither sidesteps the two location problem.

@jesusDoes this mean signal is hosted on amazon servers? As far as I know google play services is not a requirement for signal. A standalone apk is available.

@ultemThat's pretty close to what I do. I ask for a ticket ID or serial number until they give up. Only thing I've had luck with on a work phone I had to answer.

@sirI'd read it (or an equivalent article you recommend).

@govynnusChiang should be required reading in my opinion. Short, character focused explorations of philosophical themes. Bit of a mathematical taste like a modern day Borges. The recent collection 'Exhalation' is dope; particularly 'Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom'.@sir

@redstarfish I'm a big fan of Iosevka. I went on the font spirit quest earlier this year and ended up settling on this one. It offers a lot of variations as well and a section on their website that lets you play around until you have the font features you want. For example, do you prefer your zeros to have a dot in the center, a diagonal slash, an asterisk or maybe you just want them confusingly identical to your capital ohs? All and more there.https://typeof.net/Iosevka/

@stuxMy girl just lost her sister and she's been coming to work with me every day too. Not looking forward to going back to the office with their miserable 'no rats' policy.:ratstand:

@MeeperI said something like this to my Dad when he offered me my infant half sister to hold. His response was to hold her up with one hand like a serving tray to show how she held her posture entirely by herself. "Babies are resilient, you won't hurt her"This did little to make me more confident about holding her but it may have shed some light on my fear of heights, constant anxiety and impeccable balance...@stux

@ablooThe author was Kurt Vonnegut and the rich guy was Rodney Dangerfield going back to college later in life. Can't recall the movie name though but remember that scene.@Nikolai_Kingsley @ultem

@stux As a teenager I always wanted to be bigger and taller. Mainly for what I perceived as social benefits. I'm old now and whenever I have to duck under rafters in an attic or slither through a crawlspace for electrical work I sure wouldn't mind being quite a bit smaller...:ratstand:

Ratling update, day 12: Petunia's brood is eleven strong. All the pups have fuzz on them now with their patterns beginning to show. Ears are out and on full display. It'll be a day or two before their eyes open as well. They're still instinctively huddling into a warm pile but it's going to be pure madness in a few days when they all start exploring on their own.#petrats #fosterpets

@stux I've been in the support rep's shoes in almost this exact scenario but it was over the phone (a long time ago). I quoted the customer for repair which was over half the price of his laptop and he got upset."Do you think that's reasonable?""I don't set the repair prices, sorry""But do *you* think that's a reasonable charge?""Honestly? No but I also don't really think the sales prices are reasonable either so..."
