@aral during the trials after WWII the judges that carried out the sentencing of all kinds of 'undesirables' were sentenced for following the law because they had abandoned all ethical considerations. The law is a weak argument. It's there to serve the ones in power and to suppress those that aren't.

People can be so defensive, and it hurts communities. Perhaps we all (including me, know) could learn how to read posts dispassionately, analyse them, and then react based on what is actually written. the defensiveness is exactly what happens when @aral posts some heavy critique on ableist culture in foes projects and people jump on this like he just murdered puppy's in front of their eyes, none out hose reactions notice any difference between individuals and the culture that they belong to./1

@aral Yet this difference is key to understand what's going on. Individuals working on a project might very well have good intentions, and many do without question, but the culture that grows in all organisations will affect their behaviour, it will also inform their priorities. When someone calls such a culture out, it might free them to think about what's happening orbit might entrench them. Think about whether or not the latter is happening to you. It's important. /2

@aral About what's been said: Aral does not mince words, ever, yet I have not seen him attack individuals when talking about wayla?d and and it's screensaver problems. His analysis is that group culture is ableist, and I have yet to see a compelling argument against that. So let's change that culture in stead of defending it. FOSS is way to enlightened of an ideal not to, it's also way to important to exclude our visually impaired friends. 💚 3/3

@aral Don't take the train from Brussel to Gent on a sunny day then. The police are actually encouraged to just force the brown people on the train back. They describe it as 'Brusselse jongeren' (youth from Brussels), but everyone knows what they mean by that.
