@ernie I think it’s a bit unfair to lump everyone who reads HN into that comment. While there are shitposts they’re downvoted quite a lot. I’m not at all used to seeing insulting comments tolerated there.

@ncommander i spent too much time over the last few days stress-testing NetBSD 10 on SimH/vax. Built perl, gettext, and finally bash from pkgsrc, used 100M RAM and almost 120M swap at one point, never crashed. Finally got me neofetch image. So whatever they're doing with page tables, they're doing it right!

Today I edited a file I have not touched in at least 30 years, since the days of Windows 3.1. And it still does something on Windows Server 2025. My customer can now once again use Outlook to send an email from QuickBooks. WOW. I might not have room to set up a 486 clone and CRT to run Windows 3 but history dies hard. #retrocomputing #windows #quickbooks
