Robert Lang’s Cicada Nymph Ia, Opus 588, folded by me. With this model I think I finish the series of Lang’s cicadas. It’s been quite a ride.#origami #origamiart #origamiinsects #cicadas

I came back to one of the earlier versions of Robert Lang’s cicadas, opus 377. This time I am quite happy about how it turned out. #origami #origamiart #origamiinsects

@futurebird Old graphic designer dog here. I still own equipment that I bought for college and that you can’t buy anymore, at least not in that quality. The obvious one being a really decent compass. The other one being a brass knive with a blade that lasts more than a lifetime. Sorry for the Pinterest link, but the source is 404. https://www.pinterest.de/pin/397935317071130669/

My origami journey continues not with a more difficult model but with a most beautiful one: Hideo Komatsu’s horse. Folded from one square 30 x 30 cm sheet of double tissue.#origamiart #origami

@futurebird I have a laptop, a smartphone and a tablet, but on my wrist I wear an automatic mechanical watch. No collector’s item, no status symbol, just a time piece.

@futurebird Also for the giggles: The book I grabbed had a too long sentence and a too long title to include them both and the rules within the allowed letter count of one toot. #rule42

@futurebird I once had to enter a pin on a screen (software) number pad where the numbers‘ positions changed after each try. I can’t touch type, but I type quickly, and I always hear myself think the numbers when I type. But this time, without the muscle memory, I thought so hard that any brain scanner within a mile would have easily captured the pin from my mind. (Not that there are that kind of brain scanners yet, but they are possible and I am afraid there will be.)

@futurebird You shouldn’t need to be able to read to fold from origami books because of the standardized Yoshizawa-Randlett diagramming system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshizawa%E2%80%93Randlett_system), but you have to learn that language as well. And still sometimes comments are helpful, even necessary.

@futurebird It’s neither, instead it is a 22.5° design (just a couple of bird bases, Lang says). But not simpler than the ant, I would guess. Look for Wired’s video 11 levels of origami with Robert Lang. It’s level 11.
