@BarrenPlanet @ieatkillerbees @mwop Agree with the assumption, that there is no categorical gap between humans and machines. However, to me this implies immediately a number of ethical questions, that seem at least as difficult to solve as the ontological or epistemological ones. Do we really want to live in a world with conscious and potentially suffering beings, that are our creations? With homemade slaves?

Scientists or engineers who claim that philosophy is outdated or irrelevant to their work may just be afraid to face its ethical consequences. The seeming rejection of fruitless sophism may in fact be an attempt to escape responsibility. They don’t want to be called into question. #science #philosophy #philosophyOfSciene #ethics@philosophy

The notion that "physics does not negotiate" is true on the one hand. On the other it ignores the fact that people do. In the current situation we have to face the fact that the biggest problem with #climatecrisis is not physics, but people. We know of a number of good counter measures to global warming.But we obviously do not know of measures how to deal with stagnation, dissonance and escapism into the past. We have a crisis in #politics .#nature #ethics
