I've integrated https://moa.party to crosspost my toots to Twitter when I include an "xp" hashtag. This way I can still have a presence there without actively maintaining it.

Lots of activity on ruby.social over the last day. Really exciting to see this instance start to look less like an empty nightclub and more like brunch with pals. 🥑 #xp

Hot take: Mastodon should have a blue check for people that financially support their instance.

Been using Mastodon for a week now and haven’t seen a single ad yet. How do I get dumb pictures of giant trucks or pharmaceuticals in my timeline? #xp

@james Agreed. It isn't meant to be a general purpose community so there's no reason to be listed there.

@james every time I tweet about r.s, I ruin your dinner. Sorry about that.

@james is there an option for a custom favicon for r.s? I'd like to pin tabs for my mastodon accounts but each server looks identical with the mastodon favicon.

@evanphx Careful with that 1.5 value. Sidekiq needs to run too.

@rbates I believe Mastodon does support span tags, maybe there’s a CSS rule to be found which can render that tag as monospace, at the very least?

@james @rbates I’d rather see support for embedding things like YouTube videos or, in this case, formatted gists. I believe there has been discussion on supporting markdown.

Rubygems now supports Passkey! I created one and it was super duper easy. https://blog.rubygems.org/2022/12/21/introducing-hardware-security-token-and-passkey-support.html

@coreyspowell Huh, I wonder how does “merging neutron stars" lead to further elements. Shouldn't it form a black hole?

@coreyspowell never heard of “kilonova”, thank you! And what a fantastic image, almost looks like an artist’s conception.
