@sadcatstarry as I said before, I have done nothing but the same damn thing I did for my last cat who lived to be 15. When he arrived, he was sick and horribly underweight, and is now just fine. If he needs a diet, we put him on one, but I'm listening to a medical professional over someone on the internet, especially because I constantly get this same "advice" myself. Fuck off back to KF or Pleorma or whatever slimy hole you crawled out of.
