@brandon some bizarre timezone? I would say UTC but the :06 almost sounds like one of the time zones with the 30 minute offset.

Alright finally acquired a radio that I can hop on to ham frequencies. Now it’s time to finishing studying and take the test. I’ve only been meaning to do this for the last 5 years or so. 🙈

Actually thinking about it.. it’s been closer to 10 years since I was first introduced to ham radio via a really cool older guy that I helped fix his little laptop. He showed up with his laptop and a ham radio attached to it. After just a few minutes the common tinkerer mindset was clear. Definitely seems like my kind of hobby. :)

@kev snaps to me have very few advantages.1. Can run daemonset. I don’t think flatpak still can do this.2. Cli apps. I don’t think there is still a good way to package cli apps with flatpak. Desktop apps didn’t make sense at all.

@kev ha! Didn’t know this tool was created. Makes total sense to me. Flatpaks are much more suited for desktop apps then snaps. Now being free from canonical I’m guessing able to play with other distros like fedora where flatpak makes more sense to use

Teamviewer has apparently decided that I’m using for commercial purposes by helping grandparents with their computer problems… and limiting me to sessions about 1 minute long. With a cool down between times I can connect if 2-3 minutes. Between being periods of access I’m trying to establish an alternate channel. I looked at paying them a while back.. but after this sort of behavior I think instead it’s time to replace once and for all.

This is of course all related to previous toot. Have a livecd on site I made several years ago that opens a reverse shell to my vps for access to the remote machine. But I’ve lost my copy of the ssh keys and can’t find my copy of the disk 😂What a show

@drq @amolith looks like it’s using typical webrtc style signaling and hole punch as default. Then falls back to relaying. At least seems to support encryption key

@amolith Managed to get it installed after like an hour of teamviewer games. Seems very very smooth. Looks like teamviewer will be getting removed 👏 thanks again!

Before I put on my hackers hat and reinvent the wheel..Say you have someone home bound 8+ hour away.. in need of windows password reset? Another machine is present I can and have been able to write usb to. Ntpasswd already failed me with kernel issues. What do you do?

Gotta love open source. I started using an open source code forge called gogs several years ago for personal projects. Not too long ago it feels.. gitea forked off of it. I believe due to gitea maintainers being unwilling to work with people.Gitea then went through some big backlash due to deceptive practices of transferring things built by a community to a for profit. So community forked... and seems @forgejo is now the latest incantation.

@dachary @forgejo @forgefriends first I’m seeing if this fork of gitea. Curious if the federated forge stuff falls into the scope considered for this fork?

@shipp @hyde aka > /dev/nullNever worked for me. I don’t even bother to look at them.Looking into my browser is like looking at a snapshot of my brain. Occasionally the garbage collector has to come along and free up spaces that aren’t attached to any running process. 😂

Just went through ~200 tabs on my phones browser… and closed out the useless ones. Then the others I started an experiment of putting in my notion notebook categorized by the line of thought or subject matter they were following. Can very clearly see patterns of what I was tracing down by looking through my tabs. Realized sticking it together in a note was maybe more useful? Or at least flushes that memory to disk instead of being grabbed by GC. 😶https://fosstodon.org/@geekgonecrazy/110778635000183782
