How can I radically deduplicate my timeline, using @apps? #FediHelpI enabled "group boosts" (in app and on server), but it's not enough. I don't want to see...📋...boosts of posts/boosts that were in my timeline📋...my own boosts of posts/boosts from my timeline📋...re-boosts by the original author to get more engagement📋...posts that I've seen with any other account in the appI'm reading my timeline and I only ever want to see a post once. Repeating after a few weeks is tolerable.

@accudioI'm sharing your frustration, I really miss Twidere but still use @apps for its per account timelines and easy cross sharing/bookmarking. I've seen three causes for the timeline jumps: a) it loads a batch of posts in the background and jumps by 40 posts, roughly; b) it is OOM killed in the background and doesn't store position, starting where you were before; c) it confuses the post you were reading with your or somebody else's boost of it, much later in the timeline@noodlejetski

Detailed and credible looking report of #LawfulInterception #MitM on an #xmpp server hosted at #Hetzner in Germany: http://notes.valdikss.org.ru/jabber.ru-mitm/Looks like a transparent bridge was deployed in front of the actual server, obtained dedicated certificates from #LetsEncrypt and MitMed all incoming client connections since July. It was discovered because the LE certificate expired 🤦

So I wanted to join the #ShittyCameraChallenge with Samsung's first WiFi camera, the ST1000 (aka. CL65) from 2009, by creating a camera-to-mastodon pipeline. It arrived just on time yesterday, but when connecting to wifi it calls unknown Samsung APIs and fails.By sheer luck, the first endpoint (`…/time`) was documented in a 2012 pastebin! https://pastebin.com/byVGYzbbNow it fails on `/social/columbus/serviceproviders/list` with the attached error. 🤷🧵#ReverseEngineering #ScreenshotSaturday

@KuJoeThanks for the thread and the linked Mastodon hosting architecture. I'd love to see a write-up of the possible and reasonable architectural decisions that went into this, and how they can help reduce the Mastodon hosting bill.As somebody running a 3k users #xmpp server on a ~15€/mo VM I'm also shocked by the huge numbers going around.

@futurebird Here is your contest post, shown on a 17€ noname LTE modem, powered by Android 4.4.The 128x128 LCD is the actual Android screen, but there is no touch and no keyboard support, so it needs to be steered by `adb`. Also requires reducing the screen dpi to the minimum and zooming out some more on the (embed URL of the) mastodon post until it's not really readable. @whitequarkIt's getting worse. #xmpp also powers Google Cloud Printing and a bunch of games / platforms, including the Nintendo SwitchSources linked in https://xmpp.org/uses/internet-of-things/#realized-example-projects and https://xmpp.org/uses/gaming/The numbers are probably a bit out of date, but it's hard to get them from projects that merely mentioned their foundation once in the beginning... @aperezdc
