@sir do you see the blog as something that there is only one of per instance of sr.ht (or only on sourcehut.org) or are you envisioning a blogs.sr.ht where anyone can set up a blog?

@sir Kotlin might solve a lot of your problems with Java, since it pretty effectively gets rid of the blot while still interoperating well

@sir that’s fair; I would be too if I were solely working on open source projects of my own choosing

@sir their robots.txt parser: https://github.com/google/robotstxt Of course that just shows that they can do it on products that have to be good and stable as opposed to ones that are user facing.

@sir I'm seeing "Your web browser does not support the webm video codec. Please consider using web browsers that support free and open standards." in the middle of the paste. Is that because my up-to-date Firefox actually doesn't support it or is it some hard-coded text you left in?

@sir Also, could you talk some more about your financial projections, specifically what the different projections show for the next couple of years?

@sir @feoh I can watch video with bluetooth headphones and notice absolutely no lag in it. I can’t detect a difference between Bluetooth and plugging in the headphone’s aux cord. Headphones are Bose QuietComfort 35, the transmitter has been both an iPhone and a Macbook Pro.

@sir that’s how I was eventually able to do it. At some point I’ll memorize morse code so I can output text that way, but that day is not today.

@sir it probably wouldn’t make sense for you to switch to it now, but Mnemosyne (https://mnemosyne-proj.org/) is a good open source software equivalent to Anki that makes it much easier to self-host than Anki does afaik

@sir @newt I agree with your principle, but that’s... not true? There’s a lot that entered the public domain this year - see “Entering the public domain in the United States” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_in_public_domain

@kick @kragen I just removed this information from his page as both unsourced and irrelevant so he can provide a citation if he really wants it there

@kragen @kick It’s relevant to Jon Blow but it’s not relevant to his Wikipedia article. There’s a policy on Wikipedia that articles on living persons should have “only material relevant to the person's notability, focusing on high-quality secondary sources” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons). Is Jon Blow notable for his height?

So yes, don’t automate your voting systems. You’re trading a little extra work for a loss of accountability, security, and confidence in the democratic process. Plus it might not even work.
