@linmob You probably know it already because it's not the first time we chatted but in my humble opinion you are the most important "media" source in the mobile Linux world and help to glue everything together a little. Now to the post, people are weard, opinion peaces generally cause more responses since there is more to talk about and it's facinating what people click and what they don't to me too :)

@fcarp10 @linmob @PINE64 @danctnix I ttied to figure that out for a long time to run Fluffychat and came to the conclusion that it's probably not possible :/

@fcarp10 @linmob @PINE64 @danctnix Btw since some of you seemingly ran other Flutter apps on devices like the Pinephone, is the keybard crap exlusive to Fluffychat or is it a Flutter issue? The Fluffychat team (in the Matrix channel) couldn't really tell me ether but they seem to think (or know) that it's Flutter.

@kop316 @fcarp10 @linmob @PINE64 @danctnix Wait so I can properly use Fluffychat now, awesome! I don't think I will find time for it this weekend but I have to try a lot of Matrix clients because that's definitely a reason to rewrite something :D

@kop316 @fcarp10 @linmob @PINE64 @danctnix I have to try Nheko again too, it was a bit hard to properly use last time but I really appreciate the effort to do it without mobile frameworks like Kirigami or Libhandy aka Libadwaita!

@martijnbraam That's actually a very interesting idea, just be careful whenever you take on the copyright or patten system!

Okay so I have two 16 GB SD cards and try to get one of them working in a old Androud phone. One of them keeps saying it's read only and I can't get it formated with dd or GParted and the other one seems to be completely broken or read only too but won't tell me. Is there anything I can do to recover them or are they both just physically broken?

@linmob I don't really follow developments around mobile Linux close enough to collect the links but I would love to help out a little if I can. To do something like Linmob you ether need multiple people or be there 24/7 so I think asking others to help out from time to time is a great idea and if you ask me asking your readers to suggest more of the links could help too. The good thing about this part of the internet is that people love to help if you make it easy and quick enough for them :)

@linmob I understand that some people will appreciate the title but it doesn't sound or look good in my opinion. Ik I could get backlash here but I don't think GNU has to be in the name and GNU-like is something I am definitely not a fan of.

@linmob I never really used Twitter much so it effects me very little but my opinion on the topic is that I definitely won't use a platform that provides a platform for facists like Trump. If our main sources of information back anti democratic rulers we have a seriouse issue that could very well be a thread to our way of life.

@cyberspook @linmob Yes but those corners of the Fediverse are mostly isolated because Federated moderation seems to work quite well, Gab is/was (not even sure) a great example for that. Towards the end of Gabs Fediverse time almost nothing from Gab managed to get out of a small bubble of instances.

@cyberspook Twitter was Trumps main platform for years, he literally announced political stuff over it and only left because he was banned. As a populist (good or bad) you need a platform to reach an at least somewhat mainstream audiance and that's not Trueth social or Mastodon.

@calebccff It's been a while since I used my Pinephone but if I remember right the Portfolio file manager was one of the best examples of a mobile GTK4 app. There definitely was that damn file picker which never quite worked but I think the major UI issues rn are issues with the apps not GTK itself.

I just discovered a really cool Firefox add-on that tries to redirect from Youtube to #Peertube if a video is available on both. It searches Peertube for videos with a similar name, it's cool that people found a way at all but that doesn't seem like a great solution to me. It's also still WIP but the add-on could help me discover a few more creators and maybe someone can come up with another solution some day, we need that in Newpipe, Invidious & co. if you aek me! :)https://codeberg.org/Booteille/peertube-companion

@linuxphoneapps I think I even ran into one or two apps that would have been available for aarch64 that way but I just build them manually but some people seem to actually use them.

@craftyguy Matrix clients often have very different goals and I don't think Element even implements all features so you have to look for one with the stuff you need/like. I think Nheko implements a lot of stuff and like Element it works kind of similar to Discord and Telegram but I prefer Fluffychat which looks a lot more like a traditional messenger app.

@craftyguy Well, you definitely aren't wrong about the bugs and missing features. I actually started to use Fluffychat because Element on my phone was close to unusable and the situation isn't much better with most other clients ether. I do think the situation improved a lot since I started to use Matrix (Riot) and will probably continue to do so looking at the rising popularity and funding but it's far from perfect rn.

@linuxphoneapps Doesn't look like that much yet but I have to try it right away, a good Lemmy client using GTK4 would be a dream come true!
