Posting a job listing with a pay range of $x-$y and then saying in the description that pay may be "above or below the listed range, depending on the applicant" isn't even really pretending to comply with the laws saying pay ranges have to be posted with job listings.

I'm seeing a few jobs that list specific time zones they are hiring in. I don't remember ever seeing that 3 years ago when I was unemployed last. Things like "Hiring in EST only". Seems like a very good idea.

I'm not sure what value LinkedIn thinks they are providing me by telling me that some number of people that also went to the University I went to work at a company for which I am reading a job listing. There aren't likely to be many companies without at least one alumni from the university or college I went to working there.

Also, is preferential hiring of people who are alumni from the same college even still a thing? Wasn't that mostly just for the super rich even back in the day?

Please, companies! If you're hiring for a senior position CLEARLY label it as a senior position! Job hunting is already stressful enough, and showing up to an interview for a job that is in no way indicated as a senior position, and then having a senior level interview sprung on you is very stressful. If I thought I were a senior security engineer, I'd apply for senior positions, but I'm not so I don't.
