I'm sorry, but why is the UK govt website asking me to agree to a cookies and privacy policy agreement to place an order for a lateral flow test? And WHY does the UK govt use Google Analytics as part of that? 👀

Like, this is technically sensitive information that a large proportion of the public of the UK are forced to use. Why is that info being shared with a multinational conglomerate? I think a higher standard should be expected here.

@aral @mia Yeah, I was wondering what your reaction to this would be. I also love how they're selling the reversal of a paridigm *they* instigated as a feature 🙄Most friends have responded along the lines of "It's only applied to photos uploaded to iCloud" and "isn't it neat how they're anonymously matching with high accuracy". But the fact that it happens on the client side feels seriously open to abuse.

@stux A personal high point for me.I'd been added to a group selling an investment mentorship scheme.I was sending the Waterloo section of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables a few paragraphs at a time every time someone sent a message flogging a scam in the group 🤣

@stux I need to do a write up actually - things got pretty damn hilarious!I have complicated thoughts on scammers. With the wealth disparity I can understand why they don't feel very bad about doing it, but it's also an absolutely horrible way to exploit the vulnerable. I don't believe in taking out righteous retribution on them like some do. But if they're gonna fuck with me I'm gonna fuck with them. I think the more their time gets wasted the less worth it it will be for them.I want to popularise spamming the spammers with classic literature! 😆
