@TeddyDD @neauoire Not sureI believe GIMP is a GTK program, and it works well, but I'm not sure I've tried any other GTK programs on Mac

Goal for 2019: Only self-hosted/decentralised online services. Including at least: email, git, social networking, file hosting, etc...I will be looking for and/or building a FOSS alternative for Slack, and then bothering everyone I know still using it to move overAlso, spend some more time trying tl find a way to make P2P browsing more accessible, Dat is amazing, but having to use a different, experimental browser isn't feasible outside niche circles

Working with signed distance field stuff, and one of the huge upsides is that when it breaks, it breaks spectacular

@ashfurrow Another benefit I gain from automation and/or custom tooling is I reduce error rates significantlyFor instance, when working on multiplatform projects, I make sure i have a one-click build/test/deploy solution, because otherwise there will inevitably be some step that i get wrong at some point, costing hours of work and a fair bit of embarrassment

@mntmn I certainly understand the criticism, if the goal is to make a completely FOSS laptop, then using the i.MX8 doesn't let you do that currentlyI guess the question is: How useful is a 100% FOSS laptop if it's not useable in real life?I certainly understand your decision, and I mostly agree with it, but it does feel like an awkward compromise

@mntmn How difficult would it be for people to get a v2, and switch out the CPU for the i.MX6?

@megan While there are ethical problems with letting Nazis use software, but as it stands, there's not much we can do to stop them, it's not like they'll respect T&Cs or there's much we can do to stop themHowever, we can design the software and our communities in a way that is unhelpful for them, and in that respect, tight-knit instances and instance blocks are really powerful

@Erjaeger NiceI'd have used reload (https://www.npmjs.com/package/reload) and http-server (https://www.npmjs.com/package/http-server), but it looks like you're all set!

@Erjaeger Otherwise, if you just want to dev, like, prototype a couple quick ideas, I've been using Glitch a lot recently, it's quite good! It's a site that lets you make simple sites and webapps and runs them for you, with a neat little browser-based IDEhttps://glitch.com/

@Erjaeger Yeah, I use it for introductory programming classes because it's got a really nice "remix" featureAll public projects can be one-click "remixed", which essentially creates a fork for you to modify, so I come to class with a link to an incomplete project, and the students can "remix" it and get coding right away. No setting up IDEs, figuring out what OS they're on, etc...

@joshavanier I keep hearing that Gitea can run on a low-powered device like a Raspberry Pi, so the investment is quite lowI had mine set up in an evening on my pre-existing web serverif you're at all comfortable setting up server software, I'd highly recommend itHere's my Gitea: https://shed.void.garden/
