Hello, fediverse! Thought I'd make my #introductions. I'm a software developer in the inland northwest US. Last year I co-founded the Seattle Developers Cooperative with three other members to provide web development for clients and to support open source projects that empower individuals and communities. #cooperative #pnw #seattle #webdevelopment

@mattcropp Always good to meet another #coop nerd! I see the #CoopFinance tag in your profile and I'm curious if you've stumbled across any way to participate in P2P lending to help develop cooperatives. Something like LendingClub but for patient, modest-rate lending to new coops.

@strypey the user buy-out option recently came up as "Exit to Community" and is being actively worked on at the MEDLab https://www.colorado.edu/lab/medlab/2020/03/06/exit-community-poster-available-now

@strypey That's a well-coined term for something I was also thinking about. The "easy mode" with sensible defaults and the "power-user mode" for people who want to re-use the core functions in their own ways. For me, the small, compose-able *nix style apps have checked this box but the GUI world hasn't particularly embraced this. I don't think a GUI is, necessarily, antithetical to the idea but it's not common practice.
