@futurebird I'm genuinely worried about the generic LLM's that use Internet as their dataset while at the same time feeding content into that dataset. It will, over time, result in real facts getting buried between persistent and random "hallucinations" (at worst) and low quality content (at best). Personally I don't think there is sinister motive here: human greed and a sort of AI mass psychosis (all are doing AI, I must do AI) is enough to explain most of it.

@gimulnautti @futurebird yeah. Tracking, profiling and data gathering used to be "just for commercial reasons". But in the near future the Trump administration will almost certainly start using the same data to hunt down dissidents. All the "anti-american/christian is a terrorist" stuff paves the way for that.

@futurebird last summer I saw a beetle that mimicked an ant. It even moved in the same way as an ant of its mimicked species would. Very cool animal.

@paulc @futurebird I recall reading that there are at least two historical layers in the book of Job: one where god is called El (=head god in the Canaanite mythology) and another where he's called Yahweh (the warrior/storm god that early jews worshipped as their tribal god). I think that satan (as he's later referred to) was only present in one of those layers: the one where he has dialogue with god. Not sure whether he talked to El or Yahweh though.
