A #NEC #VectorEngine card crunches double precision (FP64) numbers for breakfast.I measured ~2TerraFLOPs on a 2 slot card made on TSMC 12nm is competitive with combined theoretical Float64 output of an NVIDIA 4090 and an NVIDIA 4080 made on a TSMC "4nm" node and this is the weakest card made by NEC. Specialized architectures matter.

@mjg59 CDDL is the superior license here. Without CDDL ZFS is a patent land mine.The problem was never CDDL. It was always with the linux community and NIH syndrome of that community.

@mjg59 yeah but that doesn't necessarily cover forks. Oracle can't force forks to properly carry along the patent grant.

@mjg59 license grants which don't follow along with a license can also be changed or revoked so any GPL based Solaris based on ZFS and dtrace or ... patents is under constant threat of Oracle exploiting dependence on it's product for a quarterly numbers boost.Not even core patents of ZFS have expired let alone the ZFS relevant patterns cited by such core patents. Do you know about #blinkenlights ?Blinking indicator light with communicate something about the system state?The name is inspired by a pre-internet #copypasta which was printed in a Fraktur font. The English Wikipedia claims the text is written in both mangled form of #German while the German Wikipedia suggests it's mangled #dutch and #german instead. It claims Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" made mangling those languages a #meme before this copypasta was created.

I indeed heard people claim the #dutch #language is just #drunk #german but as a chronically non drunk and non dutch German I can't confirm or deny this claim in either direction.For those unaware here is a short snippet from that glorious movie https://youtu.be/isLNLpxpndAI am not happy with the in universe translator though.
