#Autistic and #neurodivergent people who have safe foods, or foods you turn to in times of burnout, post shutdown / meltdown, high stress - what are those foods?I know sensory issues are a major element, but I have a theory that the foods we gravitate to also have a normalising effect on neurotransmitters.Tell me what your safe foods are and I'll tell you if I've come across information about how they effect neurotransmitters.

@ArchivistBoth definite serotonin boosters.If I have rice at dinner I'm a different person the next day.I will go from sheer hopelessness to being full of optimism between dinner and the following breakfast.Or from burning limbs to manageable pain levels.

@dhfirOn that topic, the bird site thread and ensuing discussing has finally helped me understand my own relationship with gender.When I first heard it pointed out that gender is a social construct, I thought yeah that makes sense, it's obvious.But what I didn't twig to is that also explains why at this point in my life I personally feel no connection to it one way or another, because I feel no @phryk - 1/2

@dhfir100% true.Gender role enforcement is just reinforcement of fabricated hierarchy by those who don't want to lose their spot in said hierarchy.Which, in addition to being complete delusion, is also people cutting off their nose to spite their face. They fight to keep a hierarchy in which they are very far from the top, and constantly being kicked by those with more bullying power.But instead of @phryk - 1/2

@phryk @dhfir Do you mean because of feeling a sense of peace once a person feels they fulfill one of the binary roles?I still have a problem with it, because people should feel wholly free to embody any collection of traits they want, whether seen as masc or femme. If the collection a person wants also happens to match a predefined gender role then IMO what's to be celebrated is still that they've found themselves, not whether or not they match a preset.

Just completed my first start to finish production coding task, done for a client, since my arms & hands developed problems almost 2 years ago.Got it done thanks to Kubuntu Linux, XP-Pen 16TP pen display, VSCodium, OnBoard screen keyboard, Talon Voice, and the Audio-Technica Pro 8 HEx microphone.In other words, wouldn't have been possible for me without the FOSS community. There's no functional equivalent for the above setup on Mac/Windows/Android/iOS.Was really nice to be coding again.

I just learned my partner stirs powder into his drinks with a large spoon instead of a fork specifically because he noticed I wince at the latter and don't react to the former.Even I didn't know that. He gave a me a demo and sure enough, the fork makes a higher pitched sound that's painful to me, and the spoon is lower and fine.Feeling pretty lucky. 😊

So Valve have released Windows drivers for their Deck but said they'll give no support.Sorry, but I can't help smiling at the idea of Windows gamers being told to use an open source operating system if they want support.
