Hello Fediverse, I'm Rob (him/his) this #introductions #introduction #vorstellung is a bit late but better late than never, right?I joined to be part of a better social network and to leave the evils FB and others.I like posting about linux and opensource, and politics. There is a bit of a lean to British politics as that's where I'm originally from (now living in Germany) Politically green on the outside, Marxist in the middle đ Other interests are books, sci-fi, plants, nature, tea, cooking, public transport logistics nerd, board games.I work in English but need to improve my German if anyone has any book recommendations or for B2.1 level that would be welcome đ

@Gargron :gnu: :goose_honk: Good work :solidarity: this also shows the advantage of copyleft licences like the :gnu: GPL over permissive ones like BSD and MIT, this kind of action would be possible under such permissive open source licences.

True, the GDPR hasn't led to a privacy paradise, however, it is the first decent approach to try and guarantee privacy rights, this puts it nicely:"The GDPR defines what data should be considered personal and that keeping or processing it requires the consent of the person concerned. @ErikUden @tagesschau Danke fßr den Hinweis auf die sachlichen Unwahrheiten in dem Artikel.Abgesehen von den Unwahrheiten ist der ganze Ton des Artikels irritierend. Ein Kind, das verhaftet wird, weil es mit einer palästinensischen Flagge ßber einen Platz läuft, wird vom Autor fälschlicherweise damit gerechtfertigt, dass er die Polizei beim Wort nimmt.

@aral I like that you stipulated "share-alike" rather than open source, I think this highlights an important distinction between copyleft licences and permissive licences like BSD and MIT, that, as you put it, "if you benefit from technology that has been put into the commons, you must share back"#OpenSource #MIT #Copyleft #ShareAlike #GPL

@ErikUden đ it's so disappointing, DB has some decent infrastructure (not in this case though, looking at those connections!) Its the chronic lack of investment by conservatives obsessed with fiscal austerity and then now the f**king neo-liberals tweaking around the edger and some anaemic investment. The Deutschlandticket is a good idea though (at least when it was at âŹ49 anyway).
