As someone who never really used IRC, I can't stop but wondering how people deal with this, on a bad connection? I grew up with bad internet, internet outages or gov. firewalls / shutdowns.I know there are options, but most servers don't use them. Nobody cares? Or everyone runs their own archive / mirror?

About the most popular Linux desktop today: I have recently seen a poll on reddit? and the vast majority of people were using XFCE. It was probably biased by sub-reddit, and the type of people that use reddit, but I wasn't really surprised about it.I use LXQt myself because QT just seems a little cleaner, but they aren't too different.What do you use, and why?

I really want to be on Mastodon more; Engage more with cool people; Join interesting groups on IRC, Telegram or wherever - but with everything closed, no notification's to respond to, everything is better. Work is more focused. Leasure is more pleasurable. Thoughts have more time to drift.I can't imagine what it is like, to be hooked-into Twitter and Mastodon all day; be reactive in groups on whatnotchat; Constantly having notifications pop-in: this, that - all these additional inputs.
