Maybe it's having survived the Jurassic Era of Rickrolling, but my biggest gripe with Safari is that Apple doesn't display URLs on mouseover by default (you can turn it on through View > Show Status Bar).Expecting users to blindly click every link is an abysmal practice.

@cosullivan Is it by Screaming Trees off their 1996 album “Dust”? I never heard that album, but I searched by track on Last.fm and they seem like a pretty likely suspect.

@cosullivan YAY! Glad that’s the one. Now I’ll have to go give it a listen.

"Open access for a limited time only" is transparently Publisher Argot for "the first time's free."It's :OpenAccess: as a trap, not #openAccess as liberation.

@ruth It's about a different kind of minimalism, but if you've got the time or interest, Robert Fink has a suuuper fascinating book arguing that there are strong parallels between Steve Reich / Philip Glass style musical minimalism & the structure of ad campaigns that aim to control consumer desire: http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/938135806It's been 5 or 7 years since I've read it, so I can't remember if he argues any sort of causation or ethical standpoint, but the parallels he shows have stuck with me.

I reached out to the person making this great map of #BlackLivesMatter protests suggesting that they consider GH/GL for sharing the map data. They said they'd like to know more… I'm under the impression that they're a student.https://www.creosotemaps.com/blm2020/index.htmlI'm not a GIS data use "insider" & couldn't find any obviously great intros online. So after 15 minutes of searching, I thought maybe someone here has suggestions?

@methyltheobromine When I found out that Dendron exists, I switched to VS Code (Dendron also works with VS Codium). Dendron's an extension that lets you write interconnected notes, basically. https://www.dendron.soMy brain finds it easiest when I put my notes and my code all in a thingy with the same interface, and I like VS C's interface more than any other editor I've used. Probably because it's customizable and better documented than the others I've used.
