@dave Yeah, "trust and safety," and "reassur[ing] advertisers that Twitter was a safe place for their brands," those sound like dead-end jobs.

Here's Oregon State Representative Tawna Sanchez with an argument you wouldn't have imagined against allowing self-service at gas stations, something that goes without comment in 48 states:“We have young people in our world that have no idea what to do with a rotary telephone, if they had to have one.”https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/29/us/oregon-gas-self-service.html

@dave Headline's a bit more dramatic than "rolled out to about 70 students this summer" might warrant, but ok."The AI chatbot can give students personalized help by understanding their coding challenges with in-depth explanations and providing them with immediate feedback. This prevents students from becoming stuck and discouraged when TAs or professors aren't available."I wonder if there's a control group that's told about #StackOverflow instead.

Idaho's Supreme Court unanimously agrees that our Attorney General Raul Labrador's titles for a ballot initiative failed to comply with the law. They've given him 24 hours to provide lawful titles. He'll be aiming for "legal" but unsatifactory, I'm sure, because he wants the initiative for opening Idaho's primary system to be defeated. He knows how to be a rank partisan. He's never really grokked the "public servant" thing.#IdPol #GOPinDisarrayhttps://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/idaho-supreme-court-rules-in-favor-of-open-primaries-group-orders-attorney-general-to-revise-ballot-initiative-titles/ar-AA1f71WH

@IdahoLark Woah, who knew there was such a thing?!An evolutionary gambit to mimic a mightily obnoxious species, I suppose? The makeup is impressive.

@DeborahLeagueFineArt Lovely image. FWIW, I prefer "inflated calyx" to "husk" (which seems vaguely pejorative).

@breadandcircuses Same data, emphasis on the (presumably) desired learning (which is not "see what you're doing wrong").

@IdahoLark @cascheranno I'd prefer to see too, but my "fresh snow only" filter is restrictive enough already. I think I get like 1 out of 10 vis days

@APoD Not seeing the moon's name (Phobos) right away (I see it now in the second, annotated image) encouraged me to take the jump, and find out about its (geologically) imminent doom. In the July 3, 2022 APOD:"Phobos orbits so close to Mars - about 5,800 kilometers above the surface compared to 400,000 kilometers for our Moon - that gravitational tidal forces are dragging it down. In perhaps 50 million years, Phobos is expected to disintegrate into a ring of debris."https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap220703.html
