@futurebird If I'm on a keyboard whose layout I know (US EN or DK) I only think about the words, and alternate between looking at the screen and off into the middle of nowhere, and rarely get into trouble When I'm on my phone (android; swyping) I am also only thinking about the words, but generally watching the swype trace and so do not notice when it guesses wrong. Often I will notice after pressing send and then have to go back to edit - bit sometimes not even then and then it's a mess

@futurebird I'm a cold water swimmer and winter bather in the Nordics. What works best for me- to feel warm beforehand (not even a sauna, just exercising or stomping around) - naked (swim suits keep the cold close to your body) - getting in all at once, head above water until I know what's what- either no movement or lots of movement depending on what feels less cold in the moment

@futurebird Also, very much neoprene socks or similar bc the cold means you won't ever feel if your feet are injured until it's too late - I've gotten gnarly, deep cuts on the soles of my feet when barefoot but never with swim socks or bootiesAnd get out early and often. You want the cold to stay superficial (shallow; only on your edges) not too stink into your bones

Taken by my husband yesterday morning while I ate breakfast outside in the snow, face first into morning, everything quiet and calm, the company of juniper tree to my right and all of the birds chattering overhead, all of the sounds extra clear with the cold so that it felt like I could feel the shape of the air between their feathers (wings)

@futurebird When I studied linguistics, that program used Peter Ladefoged's textbook introducing phonetics and the IPA, and then I learnt it by writing out all of my notes to myself and etc etc in IPA (much like I did when learning Devanagari, Elvish and other scripts) Maybe something like that?
