@jsstaedtler If I had to guess, I'd say that Mastodon is mostly people who learned the Internet through Usenet and IRC, which would explain the dominance of 30+. Speaking from my experience as a generally younger person, I can't see most young people switching to Fedi just because their friends aren't there, the current young Fedi population is mostly the people on the desktop side of the desktop/mobile dividing line that happened in about 2012 (e.g. growing up with a family PC not an iPad).

@stux I've had luck with Brave on mobile because it's Chromium based and everything on mobile is centred around Chrome these days, but Firefox has been great for desktop, especially with HTTPS-Only and Do Not Track.

@stux I've personally used Refind for a while. It does its job well, even if it isn't particularly advanced.

@lowqualityfacts *5 years pass. Mastodon has just reached 5 billion users. The metaverse runs on ActivityPub (genuinely not a bad idea when I think about it). Old social media is fading away*Bad tech journalists: "BUT CAN IT SCALE??!!"

@stux Fortunately, Twitter isn't ActivityPub, so no chance the toxicity somehow gets federated, though I would trust basically every instance admin on this place to block it anyway.

@lowqualityfacts I was more concerned about the lack of respect for Oppenheimer's appearance. It was well known that he was 7'9 and had completely transparent skin, yet the VFX are so poor as to not reflect this.

@lowqualityfacts Yeah, cause all the pages only have the page numbers on them, of course.
