@cdmnky i like using my TI-84 for chem because I can store fundamental constants as variables. For everything else I just use GNU Octave and R. If I could get octave in the size of a TI I would

@redsPL that's kinda how I'm feeling. I have already spend a lot of time tweaking the xfce on my laptop and kde on my desktop. I remember how cool mate was but I don't want to waste hours of my life trying to make it usable when kde/xfce are almost how I like them by default. I'll probably just keep using kde/xfce because they work well and are very customizable

@redsPL I defaulted to xfce because I compute just above poverty tier. I used MATE for a while but it was really hot and fat.

@philip yes but --recursive --verbose because I couldn't remember if recursive was capital or lowercase

@Main_Tomato try enabling the RPM Fusion repos and installing vlc and mpv to pull in codecs you might be missing

@Main_Tomato the codecs are nonfree, or at least not free enough for fedora to ship them with the installer images. Imagine being red hat. Would you ship nonfree codecs and libraries with your operating system and be in a legal gray zone, or would you chose not to ship them at all because they are available in third party repos?

@Main_Tomato red hat funds fedora, but the project is technically independent. Red hat is involved with fedora more than just funding because they use fedora as an upstream for rhel. Either way, shipping nonfree codecs and binaries is unethical. It's not difficult to add rpmfusion and get what you need
