@admin I currently have family in France as I was born there. So far that I've seen from videos I trust: - protesters have rushed cops, stolen their weapons and turned it against them- a lot of public workers are on strike, so the streets of Paris have a lot of trash- protesters have used this to light it on fire and then launch it copsI've seen videos of *violent* protests in Marseille, Paris, Lyon, and my home city of Avignon. This differs from the yellow vests in the fact that there's no single group claiming authority or that they "started" it. However a lot of air around this sort of thing has become *very* violent. Macron bypassed parliament to raise the retirement age, which is *technically* permitted but is intended for emergency measures during wartime. They raised the retirement in France but this is already unpopular because it's just an axe to the face of the average ethnic Frenchman who has to work harder now to support N'gumbú and his 12 kids and 3 wives living off our money. You really think we're pissed because we're working longer? Nah, if it was for the good of the French people we wouldn't complain nearly as much. Marseille, a city I love, is overrun with Maghrebi trash apes. Hope this explains a bit.

Here's the thing, the government of the Republic can't just throw money at this or jail people to make it go away. @johnbudd1350 The media in France tried playing it as a "far right" movement, when actually it had everyone from far leftist, to downright monarchists who want the return of Napoléon. You had protests in French, Occitan (my native language) and even Breton and various dialectal forms of French. It's *very* easy to see it as a "far right" or even "nationalist" movement, which I guess is partially true — however it was just about how everyone is tried of shit being fucked up. We're not like other parts of the world where we have this "oh nothing can be done about it." In my village outside Avignon we have a common saying. "Es mai bèn morir irat dins la sang que d'èsser un lausat." (It is better to die bathed in blood than to be a coward). @ChristiJunior

@Dice @admin not just that, that's now got a slang term "deflicer" (lit. to de-cop), I've seen protesters rush cops and snatch their rifles, and then take a strike at the cop using a rifle like fucking baseball bat. Here's the thing, the "progressive" government has issued a "soft vergonha" [note: la vergonha was a period of linguistic oppression against the Occitan dialects, it's still remembered very strongly by older citizens] the French language is considered the "sole and official language of the republic". Occitan, especially the dialects of Gasconha, Provença, and Daufinat predate the French republic. It is our land, our language, our blood. @ChristiJunior in my home départment (similar to a county or prefecture) of Vauclòsa, we've never been really big fans of France in recent years because they've never been kind to us. So it makes so happy that Macron is getting the beating he deserves. @MaleGoddess
