@lowqualityfacts My friend who is a pilot says this is false. Traditionally it's the co-pilot who lands the airplane with their feet. It's the only way they'll ever learn.

@mekkaokereke Even if you're coming from the standpoint of not caring about the homeless and just want to see them go away, sweeps are still counterproductive.Because when they get moved they go somewhere else. And then they get moved from there, and guess where they go after that? Right back where they came from.Sweeps really don't solve any problems other than a need to be senselessly cruel. The unfortunate motto for our time is "The cruelty is the point."

@futurebird There was that guy in California who got a vanity license plate that was "NULL", thinking it would get him out of having to pay tickets.Instead, he ended up getting every ticket where a cop forgot to fill in the license plate. He got $12k in tickets. Also, whoever wrote the SQL queries for the DMV should have been fired. Someone call Bobby Tables.https://www.wired.com/story/null-license-plate-landed-one-hacker-ticket-hell/

@mekkaokereke @blAnders Gotta love European-style racism.1. Our society is aging rapidly, and we need workers! Otherwise, we won't be able to collect our pensions.2. Wait, what? Not those workers! Send them back.3. Why do we need to worry so much about this "climate change" nonsense? It's not like there's a disaster that's hurting us in any way.4. This is all America's fault. At least we aren't right-wing and anti-environmentalist like they are.

@futurebird A proposal: anyone who uses science that was discredited over 100 years ago gets a free humour rebalancing with leeches.

@futurebird Honestly though, considering the way phrenology was used to institute racial eugenics along with justifying conversion therapy and discrimination against queer people, they're lucky we don't send them to a 19th century hospital.

I've been traveling in Europe for the past 3 weeks, and this has me reflecting on a lot of things I've experienced. Being that this was a #vegan food trip, I wanted to start off thinking about how the cities I visited rank in terms of vegan friendliness. The cities I visited were Berlin, Amsterdam, and London. There are a number of rankings of vegan-friendly cities worldwide usually based on quantity of vegan restaurants. But from my completely subjective standpoint, here's how I'd rank them.

Number 3: #LondonLondon is at the top of many rankings based on vegan-friendliness, and I can see why.Just based on sheer quantity of vegan food that's available, London is pretty vegan-friendly. I'm sure someone is going to disagree with me on this, but it just feels like something is missing in London.

Number 2: #AmsterdamAmsterdam doesn't have quite the same variety of vegan food as London or Berlin, but I think the food is much tastier than either of those. It was probably the least healthy of the three cities. But Vegan Junk Food Bar is worth a visit.

Number 1: #BerlinIn my own subjective opinion, Berlin is the most vegan-friendly of the three cities. In terms of variety, I'd say that it's pretty comparable to London. The biggest difference between Berlin and the other two cities is that restaurants market their vegan food. I constantly walked by restaurants that marketed a version of their food for meat eaters, one for vegetarians, and one for vegans.

Close to my hotel, there was a currywurst shop that marketed "the best vegan currywurst in Berlin". This is just something I haven't experienced anywhere else.My biggest complaint is that the food is a little on the bland side. I'm not necessarily even someone who needs a ton of spice, but I had to ask restaurants to add extra spice to meals that were marketed as spicy. But I also feel that of the three places, the food was the healthiest.

Anyway, that's my own completely subjective ranking of three cities according to what I find most vegan-friendly. Your own mileage (kilometerage?) may vary.

Reverse culture shock means realizing that a number of things you've known your whole life are actually incredibly foreign. And that things you've never experienced before actually feel like home.

Hopefully soon I'll write up exactly what I mean by this. It's a subject I've been reflecting on as my trip nears its end.

Something I didn't realize about America until I went to another continent, and that's just how depressing it is to be on social media here.Do people elsewhere have issues they complain about? Sure. I mean complaining is practically Germany's and France's national pastimes. But there's just something about how just how virulent America's rhetoric is. I'd rather spend an hour listening to someone in Germany I disagree with than 5 minutes listening to someone in America I completely agree with.

Like I could tell the exact time the Americans were waking up because my timeline suddenly became incredibly depressing and anger-inducing. And I'm not even talking about what right-wing people are saying either.I think Americans are just filled with a sense of hopelessness that infects everything.
