Sorry man. Missed opportunities suck. We found a pair of mountain chickadee's trying to make a nest in insulation in the wall through an old pipe hole at the beginning of the pandemic. Pulled the insulation and built a box on the back side of the wall, moved the nest they made into the box, and put a perch outside the hole. This will be the third year the nest has used. The kids love it. Right next to the mint garden.

"blessing and a curse" is right. it's a lot to live up to hearing, "but you're such a smart kid, you should ..." everyone expects you to invent something to get rich, or be a doctor and get rich, or just do something and get rich.never had a problem justifying or rationalizing anything i've wanted to do. my life choices were not those a smart person would make. my biggest question was always, "why?" so i found out. i also found out, "why not." had a really rough child-hood, an extremely poor and abusive home life in freezing ass St. Lawrence valley NY. i also have 3 very smart brothers. the hardest thing for me to figure out growing up was, "how do you get yourself to want good things, to want to be good?" all i wanted was to die, to run from the depression of childhood, of feeling just wrong in general. everything was so simple, i didn't know why the adults in my life couldn't figure it out. i was also raised very much in church, non-denominational/full text christian. the school i attended was a private school operated within our church. so, i also ran from prophecy. i was to be "the servent leader". from a young age i was destined for a life of ministry.my favorite things to learn about in my 20s were drugs. I've had a 'problem' with all of them, each in their own turn. my curiosity with each ran its course and i was able to leave each aside without trouble. i've learned a lot, i can relate to a great many people. i've lost a lot of time though. "had i known then..." yeah.at least when i was finally ok in the head and no longer self-destructive, those smarts helped me bootstrap my ass outta what looked like a dead-end life. it's nice to be able to figure things out though.

i struggle at times with the notion that "weed is for niggers" but in reality, it's a seriously calming tool. i'll admit, it takes mental discipline to see it as a tool and not fall into easy high time preference behavior. my @ is indicative of a past, i've faced every addiction. thank God and Jesus Christ, i'm clean and healthy now, and head of a beautiful family. i also operate in an industry that requires random testing at a federal forensic 10-panel level. i think that's one of the greatest travesties that cannabis is schedule 1 while alcohol is the same as tabacco (in my state). alcohol is more insidious and potentially destructive.

later reply to an earlier post in the thread: cannabis as a calming factor, slowing runaway excitation (panic attacks), is a very plausible use. there's a post later in the thread about commercially available CBD, that's worth considering. it's a psychoactive, set and setting are important. find a trip-leader, that will be helpful. someone respectable though, who uses it while being someone you'd be surprised uses it.

i got my wisdom teeth out at 33 yrs, cavities made it necessary, it was very morbid and painful operation while only on gas. nothing touched the pain, but a buddy of mine had been making temperature dependent conversion of thc oil to cbd. he gave me a handful 'for the pain' and i was skeptical. it was the most effective non-euphoric pain relief i've ever used. albeit, that doesn't necessarily affect other neurological systems the same way. it works for pain.
