Serious IT question: are there any Apple computers in American hospitals? I don't mean a doctor's personal laptop. I'm talking about computers used for patient registration, or reading X-rays, or billing.

@dibi58 This is the best article I've seen on the FAA/FCC debate over deploying 5G. Thank you for the link.

@dustin @ajroach42 In the early 90s Scientific American did an article on long-term digital storage. In addition to the files, you also need to think about software that can read the old data, and hardware that can run the old software. Simply copying the data to new storage media doesn't, by itself, guarantee that the data can be used in the future.

@dustin @ajroach42 Software and hardware that can play MP3s will probably be around for a long time - but, at some point, MP3 will become a legacy format, like cassette tapes are now.

The political decision makers in NATO countries are trying to prevent global thermonuclear war. Meanwhile, it's already inevitable.Putin is planning on it.

@wolf480pl My son is like that, in a different industry. He turns down promotions because it would change what he does.

I just posted on LinkedIn about 2 ways to cause global societal collapse via public cloud services. Now reps from every cloud service, and their fleet of ancillary service providers, will leave comments trashing my post as ludicrous.I'm ready to delete and block. You need to hear that massive centralization will lead to massive failures.

Apple wants you to think they're big on privacy, but they won't use the interoperable RCS standard for end-to-end encrypted text messaging. So, no. They're not privacy advocates.

@wolf480pl You can't send an end-to-end encrypted message using the built-in text messaging app between an Android and an iPhone. Android's built-in messaging app, Messages, uses RCS and has E2E encryption. Apple doesn't support it.

On tonight's episode of #FBIInternational the pornographer criminal erased every hard drive in his cyber lair in about 5 seconds.Uh, <cough> it doesn't work that way.

@wolf480pl I just read the Wikipedia article. I'd not heard of it until you mentioned it. But can it do 10 second erasure? Or maybe it just removes the keys, which renders the encrypted data pretty much useless. Can you elaborate?
