Hey #fediblock a conversation got me wondering: Is there an easier way to tell which instances don't respect delete requests than just...deleting a post and seeing who doesn't delete it?

@Nanook Yeah, I'm running Hubzilla myself. I've run Mastodon and Friendica, too, and haven't seen anything to set to ignore delete requests, so I imagine it's a bit more involved, if it's even possible with that software either.

@Nanook Yeah, it took me altogether too long and talking to altogether too many people who just shrugged and told me "idk, friendica is slow" until someone finally pointed out to me that MariaDB by default only has a buffer of 128MB. Now, whether I'm running Hubzilla or Friendica, I have the buffer set to three gigs, and those get used. I'd like to spin up another instance, but I'd need another host just to do it.

The admin of eskimo.com boosting and commenting on a post exemplifying modern mask-off fascism: Linking communists to Jews? Check. Denying that racism is even real? Yup. Ahistorical made-up bullshit that really should be obvious to anyone with two braincells to rub together? Totally. Spelling errors so bad that you wonder if that's just how this guy actually says it? You betcha.

Was gonna actually do some studying for a new cert today but ended up spending the whole day going through mariadb logs and finding out what wasn't working and doing my best to salvage it. Feels like the day is a write-off unless...nah, probably a bad idea to put "broke my database but dw I fixed it again, hire me" on my resume.

@8124🟦 Stop polluting fediblock with this genocide-denying bullshit. You're on mastodon.social, you don't even run your own server.Fascists aren't welcome here.(also, speaking of technical illiteracy: learn to take a screenshot that isn't 90% white space, fash boy.)

@Charlotte Aten Matrix is also a good solution, and has fuller encryption than XMPP.Signal is centralized. It may be good now — so was Telegram, once. That may not last.

@Charlotte Aten It's an open standard. You don't need to engage with the Matrix Foundation. My server is Continuwuity, which is run by a team of incredibly queer volunteers.

@eltheanine The main issue is XMPP doesn't encrypt file attachments. The only thing that can be encrypted is the content of messages. I also prefer Matrix for its bridges; it's easier to on-board people if they know they can still contact people on other platforms using it. Continuwuity has been stable for me.
