@futurebird Oh creepy -- that reminds me of a sci-fi film I watched as a kid in the late 1960s.Released in US as Five Million Years to Earth.

@futurebird Powdered cellulose used as an insoluble fiber filler in some reduced-calorie breads is the contemporary version. Now they add vitamins but deliberately strip out calories with what was likely wood pulp. Many of us have eaten this stuff and not known it was wood including pine. But now we know that cellulose used as filler, anti-caking additive, and as an emulsifier in commercially-prepared foods damages gut flora thereby causing health problems.https://bakerpedia.com/ingredients/cellulose/

@futurebird There are quite a number of uses for pine in foods across different cultures.Examples at Serious Eats:https://www.seriouseats.com/foraged-flavor-all-about-pineBut pine as a source of cellulose is pretty iffy for human consumption.https://microbiomejournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40168-020-00996-6

@stux I am behind on making donations to you, very sorry. The last three times I sent money my bank put a hold on my account because their fraud detection is insanely out of whack.I will try to send some funds next week after the first of the month -- this time I will call my bank as soon as I've made the payment rather than wait for the inevitable and stupid fraud alert.I mean, really, REALLY stupid because a payment to Naver-Korea for a Webtoons subscription never triggers it

@stux I sure hope Netherlanders checked the background on these folks because that's suspicious as hell.First, firearm deer season is a defined time in each state, usually September-January; if this happened outside that time frame they definitely needed to be checked out.Second, states require hunting permits/licenses with the exception of those few states that allow landowners to hunt on their own property; American hunters know better than this. These workers just sound sketchy to me.

@stux I had wondered if Stuxnet was the origin of your username, thanks for the confirmation.Stuxnet was an example of counter proliferation action requiring no kinetic warfare. It's what we should have stuck with because it clearly worked.

@stux I think the pointing in several directions within the same circle was an effective bit of cover, and only necessary to protect the private resources co-opted for the program.Well, that and masking the location of the likely testbed facility.

@stux Patreon worked great for me! My bank didn't freak out like it has with Ko-fi and PayPal; now I can easily send you a monthly payment. Is there any chance you can set up a one-time payment option in Patreon in addition to the subscription levels? I'd like to send a lump sum to catch up for the last several months my bank was such a nuisance. Thanks!

@stux "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept." — Angela DavisI'm confident you'll find ways to tackle the things you can't accept. More of us need to ask ourselves what is and isn't acceptable, and then fight against the unacceptable.

@futurebird @KydiaMusic Oh that's excellent, feline Fragonard with the lover covertly checking out the p*ssy from below!I wish I'd had this for my recent Art HIstory class, would have written a paper around it discussing objectification. LOL

@futurebird The people who pule over divorce rates in 1980s-90s rarely ever praised the drop in women's suicide rates which occurred in tandem (right up until the emergence of synthetic opioids).Probably just a coincidence that in 1973 under then-new federal law, adult women were able to open bank accounts and be financially independent of men whether fathers or husbands.

@ai6yr We had a long ongoing discussion across the now-dead bird app about women's clothes and the lack of pockets. It's probably time to launch another such discussion here given the slow turnover in couture designers.I remedy the lack of pockets a few ways:- work aprons with pockets (I've added pockets on a few)- tool pouches tied at the waist- small molle tool holstersAnd yes, modded puny fake pockets into functional pockets.

@ai6yr I have a ratty vintage printer's apron I reserve for art. The pockets are perfect.I'm not crazy about the possible implication that a woman must wear an apron to get pockets, but I'm a messy worker and my aprons look like I mean business -- denim or canvas, no frills or gewgaws. This one I'd consider:https://dry-inc.com/products/printers-apron

@realcaseyrollins @ai6yr Can you put your phone in your pocket? Your wallet?I can't think of many pants/skirts/jackets/vests I've bought right off the rack into which I could put my smartphone (since about Android 6).I don't carry a large smartphone, either, because I've got small hands. Most could handle my wallet in which I rarely keep more than a credit card, healthcare insurance card, folded cash, driver's license. All I want is pockets big enough for the phone and wallet.

@antdude @realcaseyrollins @ai6yr I hear you on that. My first Android was an LG that wasn't more than 4 x 2.5 inches. Loved it to death, was only slightly bigger than my wallet. But the rest of the market insisted on following Apple, making phones with displays big enough to have movie night with your seat mates on a plane. Nope.

@realcaseyrollins @ai6yr The only place I can regularly find working togs with rationally-sized pockets is Duluth Trading.I like how they tell men looking for more cargo pocket space than they offer, "If you run out of room, you might just have too much stuff." LOL
