@Radical_EgoCom only caveat is historically transitional states repress “left” communism once in power. The trick will be how to prevent that.

@Radical_EgoCom It’s a lot to trust with power. Personally, I’m against “leaders”… even if transitional I’d much rather put my faith in a council… but they can be corrupted almost as easily.Free and open media, without editorializing, for the populace would be essential. And mandates and restrictions for any military and police that they are of, for and answerable to the people, not power or capital. When people rise they are to stand with them not against.

@Radical_EgoCom By councils, of course. 😄 And... psychology and sociology have discovered what an effective maximum size is... so some of the work is already done.

@Radical_EgoCom look through history and Communist parties are all the same… Whether you like Castro’s Cuba or not, the Communist party was almost as antagonistic towards him as Batista… until he took over, then the sycophants changed assholes to lick.Nicaragua, Bolivia, Chiapas, Greece 1973…Not even worth making “allies”.

@Radical_EgoCom it’s good enough for me… course, being a council communist and opposed to participating in bourgeois parliamentarianism, I’m going to find them suspect regardless of past history anyway.

@Radical_EgoCom Not meaning to be argumentative, or to really disagree with your point. It IS accurate. But I also think there's room for nuance. I can only speak for myself, but after years of seeing people voting for idiots like Reagan, Bush and Trump, Harper and possibly Poilievre (I'm Canadian), Bolsonaro, Farage and Le Pen, the idiot in Italy... continued massive support for Putin, support and protection of Nazis in Ukraine...Its just exhausting and demoralizing.

@HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm @Radical_EgoCom That's an ideal solution... however, "centrists" would then take the situation as an opportunity to then block the "left"...You know, to be fair... as a "compromise".

@Radical_EgoCom @HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm again, that wasn't the intent of what I said.Just a warning that, as I see it, the natural conclusion of "barring" the right will be barring the left.Leaving in its wake an insurmountable centrist monolith.

@Radical_EgoCom @HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm seriously? Not meaning to insult here, Cat, but that's a bit naivecentrist, passive, "undecided" and apathetic voters make up the bulk of most nations... the incentive to barring the "right" will be to prevent "radical" politics from taking rootWhether we like it or not, our leftist ideas ARE considered radical by the majorityopportunist centre politicians won't miss that opportunity.

@Radical_EgoCom @HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm and, barring a revolution, how does that happen today?because as I see it, the right are an immediate threat and no where in the West do I see any evidence of a true "left" party or coalition being anywhere near viable.Correct me if I am wrong.

@Radical_EgoCom @HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm I'm in my mid-50s and have no kids. The future is nice and all, but I'm concerned with right now, and right now I see the right-wing as an immediate growing real existential threat.

@Radical_EgoCom @HarbingerOfSalem @iam_jfnklstrm I never said ignore the future, Cat.But, you can't ignore the present either. The future, while it can probably be somewhat reasonably predicted, is still just an unknown. The present... well, it's the present, it's here and now.

@chu if you look at WHERE Canada remained and grew "blue"... you'll recognize that even as detestable as the Liberals are, there are bigger issues. The rural/urban divide is no longer a trend; it’s a structural fracture. And it’s hard to see how this country walks it back.Canada’s social contract is breaking apartYes, the system still functions mechanically, but the sense of fairness and trust that held it together is disappearingAnd worst of all? Nobody with power is trying to fix it.

CBC Kids published this war explainer on the Iran-Israel conflict for children and it frames Israel’s first strike, US escalation, and hundreds of Iranian deaths as “defensible.” Far as I am aware, there’s no pedagogy called "pandering to empire" or making war crimes "banal".The danger was never Pizzagate... it IS media grooming kids with a Western imperial narrative.https://www.cbc.ca/kidsnews/post/the-u.s-israel-and-iran-conflict-explained#cdnpoli

"What is Canada's digital services tax — and why does Trump dislike it so much?" (CBC)The question is... when will we cave? Not just from pressure, but from our own addiction to being obedient. The Canadian dream of true independence, NEVER fully realized, isn’t just being strangled by the U.S., it’s being smothered by Canadians too cowardly or colonized to want it.https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-digital-services-tax-explained-1.7573099#cdnpoli

@coleens_ You don’t seem to understand socialism, communism, or capitalism at all... and drawing lines between them using a 1950s CIA dictionary helps no one in the current political environment. If you aim to critique systems of power, fine, but at least know the difference between ideology, state structure, and economic base. Equating “disappearing people” with communism is Cold War bullshit... and tacking on “capitalism does it too” doesn’t fix the framing, it just muddies the analysis.
