This is the Fediverse social media presence of a project to build & maintain installable images of Debian-based ActivityPub platform servers such as Pixelfed, Akkoma, and many others, which can be deployed in minutes at a number of inexpensive VPS providers, or on hardware maintained by the operator.

I installed & documented my install of Snac from debian-backports last night, but haven't done any of the work on the reverse proxy setup, hopefully I'll get to that later this afternoon. The goal is to move this account to #Snac and use it to "dogfood" the creation of my first Fediseed - a release of #TurnkeyLinux for installing Snac. Then after that I'll package progressively more complex fedi softwares for Turnkey.

Every Turnkey Linux install is pretty simple, you download the image, boot your machine with it (whether that's bare metal, a VPS, or something like an AWS instance), a setup script runs and asks you questions as needed a la debconf, and at the end of it you get a Debian box with a fully functional app ready to go.What I'd like to do is offer complete "batteries included" support in the setup scripts for reverse proxying.

Of course if you want to run a fedi instance on a VPS or similar, it'll work right out of the box, but I also want to support self-hosters like me who prefer to run as much of their setup on their own metal as possible, and reverse proxy it thru a cheap VPS.I don't know if I'll be able to ship that right away, but it's a major goal. I imagine I'll learn a lot more about reverse proxying as part of this, my current setup sort of grew like mold.
