@stefano Is it a whim or a calculated "test phase" of a transactional person to see if you can give them something of value in exchange for their "friendship"?

Would anyone like to see a collection of the absurd/entitled/rude Github issues I've received? I was thinking of doing a blog post. I won't name/shame people. It's only to document another ugly side of open source.

It's been a while since I touched on this topic, but I'm curious to see if any attitudes have changed. Many of the people who follow me are creators of HW/SW and can relate to the idea of micro-payments. Q: If your mobile App Store offered a 3rd payment option - "1 penny per day when used" instead of ad-supported and fixed price/subscription, would you opt for it? It would generate much more revenue for the creator compared to ad-supported.

Picked up the soldering iron today to do some power tests on a mono LCD I haven't used in a while. These 128x64 LCDs use about 250uA when idle and slightly higher when writing new data.

Of course I had to port it to the AVR (Arduino Pro Mini ATMega328 w/32K FLASH, 2K RAM). Works the same and fits in 14K of FLASH (4K of which is the Arduino core).

In today's mail - a 2.9" LCD that can be used in place of 2.9" epaper displays. It has compatible signals on the same 24-pin FPC. This one is a Sitronix ST7305 controller and 384x168 pixels 1-bit (black/white). It's low power and refresh is slow (1 second). I'll measure the power later today.

For my new followers, here are some useful links:my GitHub: http://github.com/bitbank2my blog: http://BitBanksoftware.blogspot.comI share geeky info and project details here. I'm always looking for ways of sharing my (hopefully useful) code and experience; when it helps the FOSS community, that's even better. Now that I'm doing PCB designs, my costs have risen quite a bit. If you appreciate what I do, please consider supporting me on Github.

Is anyone using an #epaper display with a Waveshare IT8951 adapter or the older #M5Paper product? Both libraries write the data wrong (to the IT8951) and waste lots of time unnecessarily. Ping me if you've got one of those products and want to try a speedup.

New in today's mail - the JC1060P470 PCB from Guition. A "not so cheap" yellow display with the new ESP32-P4 and a 1024x600 MIPI DSI display. I've got touch and the LCD working with my own code, so will soon add support to my bb_spi_lcd library.

I'm working on my TIFF_G4 library today:https://github.com/bitbank2/TIFF_G4 because it's one of the projects getting some support from NLnet. I'm writing function and fuzz tests and already found and fixed some bugs 😜 You may not have known that it can do quite a lot with compressed images, like decode a sub-image (icon) and scale it.

I just added the ability to scale compressed (G5) images in FastEPD. A new example sketch too:https://github.com/bitbank2/FastEPD

The more I am forced to work with Python, the more I think that it's not really any easier to use than C or C++, it's just different. You can't create a working thing in Python without knowing how to break a problem into discrete steps - the same knowledge you need to write code in any computer language.

The more I use Python, the more I understand why the performance is poor - it abstracts away so much of how a computer actually works that it makes it "business as usual" to duplicate/convert/enlarge data at every step of your code. When the data is large and the code bogs down, that's when you're forced to examine all of the memory mismanagement.

The PNG display helper class just got support for 1-bit Eink displays. Now it's really easy to display images. New release soon...

@saramg The late 50s version goes a bit further:* Knows that your VC-backed startup is based on wishful thinking and farts that don't smell.* Doesn't care that you're going to burn through the investor money in 2 years, fail in every metric and unceremoniously lay everyone off* Happy to work with smart people, learn something new and get paid decently (for however long the money lasts).
