I own four Windows 10 licenses. Two for our gaming systems and two for VMs. I’m tempt to load an activation crack to avoid the hotline. Microsoft is still stupidly user hostile with some things.

@jerry good idea, thank you :) I believe to remember that ESXi has some problems if two machines with the same identifier were running, let’s hope that’s fixed :/

@leip4Ier a second token and I usually have TOTP based 2FA enabled, but not with me (TOTP string saved on my file server and can be read to generate a token via Python script)

@leip4Ier I guess it’s a call to make if a data breach or lost account is worse.I would never want my bank to do that but rather force me in person to show up to reset my online account. Twitter - as it carries some brand value - hard to tell. Imgur - sure, send me my plain text password (kidding)

@leip4Ier I have two SoloKeys and TOTP linked to most of my accounts. Sometimes only TOTP + one key is supported, but I didn’t come across platforms which won’t allow at least two

@leip4Ier I’d argue that a company that reaches this size / importance for people’s every day life should be required to work with a higher standard - like a video call verifying an identity with a government issued document ex (that’s what online banks in Europe do for example)

@leip4Ier I remember sending my ID to them twice - and I wasn’t even logged out it was to resolve a dispute with their online shop where good weren’t delivered. Horrible process, technically illegal with the new IDs in Germany.

@leip4Ier receiving one the first time at 6:30am when your phone usually is in mute (which is ignored when one of those is received) you are awake and confused (once I learned what an „orange alert“ was I actually was fully sold on this system)
