Une fois de plus j'ai pu vérifier aujourd'hui que quand mon fiston me dit "c'est une chouette montée", je dois traduire par "prépare toi à souffrir".

@alcinnz @rugk @Shamar @strypey What are you reusing from Servo? I could not see anything in https://git.sr.ht/~alcinnz/memex/tree

@alcinnz @rugk @Shamar @strypey John's proposal seems very network-centric though. I may have missed it, but I don't see a way to update the UI from data that is generated locally. If the answer is to do a roundtrip to the backend, that's not looking great...

@natecull @Shamar @popefucker @mala @Shamar @rain XHR and fetch() have to obey the Same Origin Policy, yes. So either the server has CORS set up, or the attack uses other kind of resource downloads (images, style sheets for instance).

@Shamar @natecull @popefucker @mala @Shamar @rain Believe me browser implementers are far from being incompetent. But they are also very much tired of people that come with a solution such as "disable JS and don't cache anything" because it's not constructive. You're doing yourself a dis-service by how you approach them. Instead, propose something like a default CSP that would enforce stronger policies without breaking the whole web, or something else...

@Shamar @natecull @popefucker @mala @Shamar @rain Wait, no one forces to use a browser, or prevents you from *contributing* to make the existing ones better. Just be a little bit less condescending and more positive.

Is there a fitness tracker that doesn't force you to register with some online service?

@usul For instance this one: https://www.letscom.com/products/fitness-tracker-id130plus-hr-black/But the app is https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/71082/ so I'm not gonna use it. If the Bluetooth protocol is documented I would happily write code to import the data.
