Every six months or so I find myself looking for multi-stop routing/planning in :openstreetmaps: #OpenStreetMap and wonder why the main OSM instance does not support this. So, let me remind myself. The® crucial feature #Matrix is still missing (for change-willing communities) is seamless #GIF/animated sticker integration.Implementation is currently stuck and discussed in various tickets; there is no consensus yet, and work-force is missing, as usual #opensource - use existing sticker feature? (not user-friendly)- MVP client-only solution? (most likely rn)- w/ server support (most official)- we need a open/distributed "GIF keyboard" provider (most long-term) à la #Giphy or #Tenor1/2

2/2btw, I've noticed that #Giphy (owned by #Facebook) at least gives proper credit by linking the original source of the (many? some?) GIFs, while #Tenor (owned by #Google) does not.

@gamingonlinux @oklomsy Recent developments in that regard: The room-knocking feature is close to release, afaik. And yes, the permission system is very lacking; I think and role-based system is in the making, but no ETA. 😞 // What about closing your rooms and make them invite-only (as many Discords are)?

@gamingonlinux ? Dunno what exactly you mean; locking should be easy. Deleting, yeah I'm not sure. // I think for the control you'd like to have you'd have to run your own home server; then you can have stricter account policies (i.e. mail verification) and you can limit joining from foreign servers and can actually delete rooms.

@Zergling_man Agree, but what's a good alternative to Element? Cinny is nice but lacking features; on Android I still prefer Element. On desktop I run Element Nightly in the browser, and while convoluted, it works well, is progressing and giving me the most/recent/upcoming features Matrix has to offer. I've tried Fractal, Fluffy, Neo, Thunderbird beta. --- Schildi is missing on my list; trying that now.

@matt same timezone. Germany. Didn't know Norway had such a early culture. I'm a late-riser, so 11am is breakfast time for me. 12/13:00 is lunch time for most folks here. Also it's Monday… fuuuuu. I'm annoyed by basically everything rn. Lunch at 15:00… maybe.

@stux i haven't read the whole thread, and I totally get how bad it feels to "beg". But your profile at liberapay talks of a weekly goal of 5€. Would it make sense to increase that to a more realistic value? Currently it looks like you're doing super well with 38€/5€. @thoralf https://forgejo.org/, die Basis von Codeberg, arbeitet an Föderation. Wie sehr/ob das gegen so was hilft? Viele (große) zukünftige Forge-Instanzen vollzuspammen ist auch nicht so komplex. Bissl Sand im Getriebe wäre es sicher; Last und Verantwortung liegt dann natürlich auch verteilt bei den Instanzbetreibern.Also ich bin voll für (mehr) Föderation in dem Bereich. Ob das das aktuelle Problem deutlich geringer gemacht hätte? 🤷
