But I am getting a bit tired of the "generations are fake" counter, when I constantly see "not so bad, for their generation" arguments used to excuse Boomer backwardness.Either it's ageist or it isn't? We're equally socially responsible despite age, or we're not?Especially considering so many Baby Boomers position themselves as the OG social justice activists, more than young people could ever be or understand...and then talk bigotry.

Yes, this is directly related to the 2 articles I just read excusing Hillary Clinton for her recent transphobic terf positions.Nope.I don't care if you're old, if you protested, if you're rich or poor. I don't care. I don't care what you've done in life. Trans people are real.It took me all of 6 months to adjust to BEING trans. Anyone can educate themselves faster than that.Especially a privileged, educated lawmaker.

Do you wonder why I constantly talk about beong trans? Gay stuff, transgender perspectives?("Taj, give it a rest. Jeez, can't he talk about anything else?")Yeah, I can, I have a rich life, and I wish I could. Wish I could just break out of the "trans thoughts" role I sometimes feel I occupy here. But when both political parties have leaders who deny my sanity and right to exist? When I have to quit jobs over the bathroom situation?I won't shut up.

It took me three years to get a real shot at a surgery I've needed since 1991.You wanna talk about cis womens' locker room anxiety with trans women? Pal, I can tell you all ABOUT locker room anxiety. Try being forced into the wrong locker room for years, and bullied to the point of trauma over breasts you never wanted. Then spending 20 years trying to use feminism to "love yourself better".No sympathy for the cis in this one. Change your clothes and MYOB.

One of the things that gets me about (especially liberal) people acting like bigotry must be excused, as the popularity of transgender information is "so new":The Institut fur Sexualwissenschaft was a humane research facility in Berlin in the 1920s, founded by the man who coined "transsexualism". They researched, performed SRS, and had trans employees. If the Nazis hadn't burned the place in 1933, we'd all be farther along.

Queer people are far more ancient than current rainbow-washed discourse pointedly allows for.

Meanwhile, I'm in a bougie deli/grocery, and Moby just started playing on the speakers. Feel like I'm cosplaying as a liberal.

So I'm starting a job where the dress code is "between business casual and casual".Can some masc-presenting people explain to me what that is? I'm coming from suit-ville. Thanks.

Feeling better about this. I think I actually have appropriate pieces of clothing for this job already. For a start, anyway. One more question: is cuffing decent dark jeans too casual for this job, you think?

I know it's been said time and time again in this lovely place, but:Trans rights are human rights! You're exactly trans enough!Transition is beautiful and righteous, even if it can be messy and awkward! You're not alone!

@LilyVers @NeoAJ Ooh, I gotta jump in as an FTM and say, my voice started lowering right away and it was the most gender-affirming thing ever! I'd always hated my voice, and didn't even know how to handle it when it started changing to match the voice that had always been "me" in my head. It was like a curse had been lifted.

I feel pretty great about this next decade, to be honest.I know it's basically the modern mindset to hate every moment you're in, and crap on the idea of actual progress. But when I think back to 2010 -- which doesn't feel that long ago to some of us olds -- and compare how things were then to how they are now, in 2019?Holy shit, so much has changed for the better. So much more is discussed openly now, or is available, or is considered *real*.1/2

This decade had: Occupy Wall StreetThe first serious discussion of income inequality, socialism, and unions *in my entire lifetime*Nationwide gay marriageThe beginnings of Informed Consent for medical gender transition, and trans rights as a respected issueWidespread acceptance of gun control and climate change as actual policy needs# metoo -- it's hard to overstate how big a deal this is, in the context of the last few decades

"Feminism may have provided girls with a powerful alternative to conventional femininity, and a language with which to express the myriad problems-that-have-no-name, but there have been no credible equivalents for boys. Quite the contrary: The definition of masculinity seems to be in some respects contracting."https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/01/the-miseducation-of-the-american-boy/603046/
