It sure looks odd to me too, but I'm not a rocket engineer capable of running numbers on that. What if they put "pad fireworks" at, like, a 30% chance?

       @ignaloidas @azonenberg yeah the whole point of the dongle is to make it smaller......which is why I really want a TB->OCP3.0 chassis. It's an almost perfect form factor, just thermal is going to be painful. If Intel weren't such assholes about their datasheets I'd already have built it.

       @lina @mezzodrinker as a networking person: please don't use 10Gbase-T. It's a pile of power-wasting, overheating garbage with short range. 10Gbase-R at 10.3125Gbd is the only real 10GE.(Which means optical fibre. Did I mention that while yes it is a bit more fragile than copper cable, it's nowhere near as fragile as people think?)
