@debacle @worldsendless I'm also trying to use Mastodon.el more. Unfortunately getting rid of a browser is extremely hard.

@worldsendless @debacle I just really like having an uniform user experience by staying in Emacs. I can customize it exactly as I want. Probably EXWM or something similar can integrate a browser, but I haven't really tried hehehe. And there is also the whole privacy issue.

I've been playing around with Golang :golang:. I'am pleasantly surprised with all their code analysis packages. You can actually analyze the whole AST of a package 😎! But yet there are no macros. #golang #programming

@worldsendless I think it is because the LISP languages were the first implementations (that I know of) of Church's lambda calculus, the theoretical basis for functional programming. That said, in practice FP is more of a programming pattern. How "functional" a language is usually depends of how the language facilitate those patterns, which is sometimes subjective. For example, in ELisp or Common Lisp functions are first class citizens, so you can program almost exclusively with pure functions, yet both languages allow global state and mutability. Does that make them less functional? I've never used Clojure, so forgive any misunderstanding on my part, but it seems Rich Hickey thought all the other LISPs facilitate non-functional patterns too much, and included more features in Clojure to encourage a more functional style.

@5uie1 #mu4e has been working very well as my mail client! Though I've heard #Notmuch works pretty well. I would like to have some replacement for Discord, unfortunately they are very against third party clients. The best workaround I've found is to run it through #Bitlbee and connect through #ERC, but that is very limited... Let me know if you find a better way, please!

@5uie1 Unfortunately I think it won't be enough for you. The Bitlbee brigde allows to use Discord as an IRC server, so no fancy features. Only messages. With Discord in particular I find that only its browser interface is usable on Linux.

Huh, continuing with #golang #code_analysis, when using an analyzer, if you don't use Facts, the analyzer only gets called for yout locally defined Go packages, but if you do Facts, the analyzer will be called for every single dependency (transitive or not) of your project as well. Weird behavior. Is it intentional or a side effect?

@celesteh You could try VSCodium or some other libre VSCode derivative. They remove the spyware. For legal reasons they can't configure the regular Marketplace out of the box,but you can manually enable it. I remember there are some AUR packages that can do it for you. Or you could manually install the extensions you need. However you would still depend on Microsoft for the features it has. That said, what features are you looking for, what languages? Depending on that there could be better editors. As a side note, for JS and front end development I think VSCode might be the most advanced editor.

Elixir Makeup is a very nice package to colorize code blocks! It currently only works for HTML but as a weekend project I've been trying to create a terminal formatter! It seems to be a relatively easy task, so maybe in a couple days it will be ready! The code is in this branch, although it is not ready yet... https://github.com/hochata/makeup/tree/feature/terminal-formatter/#myelixirstatus #elixir

@mdrights Last time I needed something like this, I found this repo https://github.com/dbohdan/classless-cssIt has a lot of simple, nice looking #css themes with demos!Although when you mean PDF export do you mean MD -> HTML -> PDF? Because when I've exported MD to PDF I usually go through #LaTeX. There are several packages for nice looking resumes on LaTeX, although most are rather inconvenient to setup...

@DeveloperMemes I'm pretty sure optional arguments in Elixir are internally implemented by defining several functions with the same name and different arity with harcoded default values, exactly as @ivesen implies.
