@EU_Commission I wish you would help those parts of the UK that didn't want to leave to come back as individual nations within the vestiges of the British Empire. Oh and change the name of the UK in official documents to Vestigial British Empire, or VBE for short!

@brewsterkahle The number of serendipitous articles found in libraries, that were the answer to insurmountable problems in my career in medicine, was too many to be counted.Regrettably there simple honest case report, is a bit of a list art. I haven't seen any for a long time in mainstream medical journals.Do doctor treat patients any more or do they treat a mythical average patient who appears to be similar to the life form in front of them?

@helenczerski what the link between British Cycling and Cycling UK or is there none. I thought BC was about cycling sport so world championships, with the gossip about doping, abuse of staff and riders and all that unhealthy stuff, so green washing hardly a great change. But CUK was, I understood, about everyday cycling, and going on low cost trips, as I did in my youth. Though why they resisted so ferociously cycle lanes for so long, baked me, especially once motorways arrived.Anyone know?

@EU_Commission if we'd stayed in the Ezu Wales could have had funding for that reopening of the West Coast Carmarthen Bangor link. We could also double up some of the lines to improve our local services. When can Wales rejoin, please?

@EU_Commission please, please can the UK join the single market, so we can have proper GDPR back, and Standards applied to produce imported for sale. The Aussie beef can come, just can't be sold in the UK for consumption.

@wampusmm best exemplified by the Bugger Up campaign in Australia who defaced smoking ads, interrupted smoking sponsored events like painting racing cars as coffins and turning up as skeletons and plastering posters with autopsy pictures...

@brosandprose I was at uni during the Cambridge Rapist episode and then in West Yorks during the ripper episode. As a man I was aware of how many men warned those two captured and dealt with. Now it appears a rapist fraudster is in the running to be President of the USA, without any criminal conviction yet.

@EU_Commission the demographic transition is not going to be easy. As we move to a more rectangular population structure there will be a temporary elderly bulge, but given time that will pass, as the cliff of mortality hasn't really moved much beyond 95 years... At least the last time I looked at ONS figures about 5 years ago.

@EU_Commission the major demographic influence was the death control achieved during 20th cent. A mix of hygiene, immunisation, and often overlooked health care.CoI I had a CABG 23 years ago, so I'm now 16 plus years past my expected life span, for which I'm grateful. Access to health care saves lives.

@EU_Commission as someone recently removed from EU against my wishes, may I as an outsider, comment? It seems to me that our political class is still convinced that they is a single magic bullet to all problems. We all need a combination of reduced demand, multiple renewable sources. Indeed I would argue we are still thinking in terms of centralised energy generation, with disseminated use. We need to return to the ancient sustainable system of localised generation and use.

@EU_Commission please copy to the tech bro in charge of UK Gov. He claims to like STEM subjects but apparently can't handle credit cards, or mobile phones though apparently he wants all the plebs to use them.

@lauren linked to the question @grammargirl asked about reading age in the US, Yesterday?Education of the least is the mark of a good society, just as care for the pregnant, the child and those who need care whether young or more especially if they are old and infirm is the measure of a humane just one. From where I'm sitting, it seems the US is an unjust, inhumane bad society, that our current government wishes to emulate. To think our conservatives once believed in good just society too.

@grammargirl @lauren sorry if I caused confusion! I think (hope) we are all on the side of the 😇 wanting all to be inquisitive learning people. I'm believe Epstein (the agent based model maker) not any other, summed it best when he said a true scientist is a militant sceptic. And I would extend that to a truly educated person is a militant sceptic. I learned so much from patients when they questioned me. When we learned together it was fun for both of us, even in the bad times.
