Aristotle on why we should define ourselves less by our work, and more by our leisure activities.“In both his Nicomachean Ethics and his Politics, Aristotle writes extensively on the importance of leisure. Specifically, he argues that when it comes to living well, the quality of our leisure matters more than our work. People are apt to waste their leisure time, however, because they haven’t been educated in how to spend it constructively [...]„#philosophy #ethicshttps://philosophybreak.com/articles/aristotle-on-why-leisure-defines-us-more-than-work/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social

I should have loved #biology - J. Somers"I should have loved biology but I found it to be a lifeless recitation of names: the Golgi apparatus and the Krebs cycle; mitosis, meiosis; DNA, RNA, mRNA, tRNA.In the textbooks, astonishing facts were presented without astonishment. Someone probably told me that every cell in my body has the same DNA. But no one shook me by the shoulders, saying how crazy that was. I needed L.Thomas, who wrote in The Medusa and the Snail [..]"https://jsomers.net/i-should-have-loved-biology/

Yesterday I had planned to spend the evening with my father, because I don't feel welcome among certain other relatives. While in a hurry, I took the wrong train by accident, and ended up spending the evening between trains and Rome's central railway station. Had dinner at an Indian diner, talking with some lonely wanderers (immigrants without a family to stay with) and I think I spent the best Christmas Eve of my life in this way.
