#FreeBSD 14.1 BETA1 is now available! We'd really appreciate it if desktop/laptop users can test out audio - some audio improvements sponsored by the @FreeBSDFoundation are now in the 14.x branch and we want to watch out for regressions. The improvements should address issues related to attaching/detaching devices (e.g. USB audio adapters). https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-stable/2024-May/002123.html

@pete_wright @david_chisnall There's a clear requirement to avoid regressions, but I've not seen an objection to the idea of other-than-Linux support.

Gee thanks #Firefox, I better make sure I get the PIN right within the next {$retriesLeft} attempts.(Maybe a bug in the FreeBSD port? Will have to verify on another OS.)

I've proposed getting rid of the "UTC clock" question in the #FreeBSD installer: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-hackers/2024-June/003334.html

#FreeBSD users running on hardware (not VMs), which operating systems do you have installed on the same machine? Think of one machine and select all OSes you have installed:

@nabijaczleweli Indeed, they are dynamic and the major and minor numbers are essentially meaningless.

My #Cynthion from @GreatScottGadgets arrived yesterday. I’m hoping it will be useful for debugging the #FreeBSD USB stack.

#Bell ran fibre down my street a month or two ago and I signed up for installation next week... but found out they don't offer #IPv6 and I had to cancel the planned install. They tout their fibre service as "ready for the advancements of tomorrow" but offer only IPv4.C'mon Bell, it's time to move out of the last millennium!

Have to give their chat support agent credit for trying, though.I've done hacky IPv6 tunnels in the past and have no desire to do that again, when #Rogers and other providers offer native IPv6.

@dvl I think my hardware probe died as well. I couldn't find any information on troubleshooting or replacing a hardware probe.

I see this prompted a bunch of spicy takes, so to be clear -- in the near term, 🤷. SDDM will continue to work as it does now.Why the šŸ˜ž? It's about uncertainty. Is a significant amount of SDDM development and maintenance effort coming from KDE folks, who will now be working on PLM instead? Are Linux distributions migrating from SDDM to PLM?https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/2148
