@JessTheUnstill The reason why I'm willing to proactively state that we'll be blocking any meta instances is that we already know in advance that the moderation policies of meta are inadequate at best. Any server that behaved like facebook or instagram would be defederated. I think it's a disservice to our users to expose them to harm before we're willing to act.That said, every instance is different, and what's best for our users isn't necessarily best for everyone, and that's fine.

I really don't understand the people advocating a wait-and-see approach to #Meta. If any instance behaved as poorly as #Facebook there wouldn't be a question of whether action should be taken.

Obviously. You can fight for a specific rights without and it's not alienating anyone but bigots. And there's clearly a particular issue with trans people specifically currently having their rights denied or taken away.
