       @futurebird Last week, they replaced the vending machines in our staff lounge with a self service kiosk thing. Open fridges and a scanner to pay at. There is also a camera with a sign that it is “for (our) safety“. I always thought that bad snacks were more of a long term danger.

       @futurebird I like those too. Unfortunately, I read a lot of ebooks that make it difficult to flip back to references the way I used to, and maps next to unusable. I miss that.

       @futurebird Also ACCESSIBILITY. So many hundred year old stations that at dangerous or impossible for many people to use. NYC subways are great. They have some problems, but the people setting priorities seem unable to identify them.

       @futurebird I think it boils down to him wanting his face on Mount Rushmore. Taking Greenland has no practical benefit. He might be able to enrich some of his people but not worth the cost. He was raised on a pathetically simple story about American history that lionized national expansion. He thinks if he can push the borders out he will finally be universally recognized as a Great Man. Same with Putin, who wants to be Peter the Great.
